Boudoir Photography Bend Oregon | Isabel in the Badlands.

The Oregon Badlands

I’m a huge fan of doing shoots that get me and my subject out into nature. I think there’s something so magical about a Boudoir Shoot done in a beautiful location, and since I live in Bend, Oregon, there’s no shortage of beautiful locations! One of my favorite places not only to shoot, but just to explore in general is the Oregon Badlands Wilderness. There isn’t a more peaceful, serene, and stark place anywhere. The light lands differently out there too. It’s hard to explain, but somehow the light there is just magical. When Isabel inquired about a desert inspired shoot, I knew just the place to take her! As I’ve been growing my photography business over the years, I’ve found a handful of positively perfect outdoor locations that combine an absolutely stunning backdrop with enough seclusion and privacy that my clients don’t feel like they’re on display for the world to see. Isabel had a few different looks she wanted to get:

  1. A “birthed from the earth” look

  2. A laid back lingerie look

  3. An Experimental “Midsommar” look

I knew all of these would look amazing during golden hour in the badlands. Golden Hour lighting is the best. Not only does it make the scenery look absolutely stunning and dramatic, but the way it casts onto the subject makes it feel like it’s almost a studio light! There’s nothing better in my mind than a beautiful golden hour shoot. In fact, you could even say I’m a bit of a Golden Hour addict!

Body Positivity

I am a huge believer in body positivity. EVERYONE is beautiful and worthy and perfect as they are. I think that one of the best ways to discover and reinforce self love and self appreciation is to have beautiful photos of yourself. I know that whenever I see a good photo of myself, I get a little boost of good feelings toward myself. There’s power in that. There’s power in seeing how gorgeous you are, and that’s the main reason I even got into boudoir photography. I think there’s power in seeing yourself the same way others do.

So whenever I do a boudoir shoot, I’m my client’s number one hype man. I’ll gas you up. I’ll get you all sorts of jazzed. I’ll work with you to find the best poses for you as well as the best angles and locations. That’s what I love to do! Isabel, however, didn’t really need much hype, as she is a self loving, self appreciating badass. She came in with a bunch of amazing pose ideas and we just went for it! You deserve to feel gorgeous. You deserve to feel amazing. You are worthy, you are perfect, you are everything.

Experimental Shots

One of the things Isabel wanted to do was a bit of an experimental, spooky, “Midsommar” look, and it was absolutely a blast. With her flower crown, and the creepy blood look, it was just so much fun to kind of get into a movie making mindset. So we had her do a bunch of different poses based on what we thought her “character” might be up to. I love creating fun little stories with my clients as we shoot! It makes it more of an experience where they get to pretend they’re on a movie set, and I get to pretend I’m directing a movie! Do you have any fun ideas for a bit of a story-style shoot? Let me know when we chat about your session! I’d love to help put that together!
